Leys Youth Hub Project

Oct 22, 2024 | Blog
In Spring 2025 we’ll be opening a state-of-the-art Youth Hub at the centre in partnership with Oxford City Council’s Youth Ambition services and Oxfordshire County Council’s Targeted Youth Support Service.

The aims of opening this Youth Hub are to provide young people with new opportunities to improve their mental and physical wellbeing, build skills for life and work and also to enjoy themselves and boost their confidence. The £1.1m Blackbird Leys Youth Hub will feature social areas, quiet rooms, a kitchen, music and digital space, and a climbing wall. An additional £223,000 of funding has been allocated for three youth workers and a coordinator for the first year too.

Due to the works that need to be carried out for this amazing project here at Leys Pools & Leisure Centre, we will be diverting customers from their normal journey through our reception with a new route through to the gym, sports hall and swimming pool instead from Thursday 10th October. Customers will notice helpful directional signage throughout the building to help them get to where they need to go during this period.
As a result of the Youth Hub project, we will also unfortunately be closing our soft play due to the works that are occurring in that area. We understand our soft play is a much-loved part of the centre and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by both the soft play closure and the reception diversion.
We want to thank you for your patience as we begin this new period for this fantastic new Youth Hub project and hope the Blackbird Leys Youth Hub will be an inspiring new addition to the community in 2025. For further details about the project please visit the Oxford City Council website here or if you have any questions at all please contact us on 0330 109 8773 or reach out to us via the Contact Us form on our website at www.oxfordcityleisure.com/leys-pools-leisure-centre/contact-us/
Look out for further updates over the coming months. We can’t wait for the local community to see the finished project next Spring.
