10 years of Leys Pools and Leisure Centre

We recently celebrated a decade of success! We first opened our doors in January 2015 and since then have welcomed more than 2.5 million visitors. 

Our centre features a competition-level, eight-lane swimming pool, a learner pool, a newly refurbished air-conditioned gym, a large sports hall, 3G floodlit sports pitch and two multi-purpose studios for a wide range of classes, activities and events for all ages and abilities.

To mark the anniversary, we celebrated with cake and gave away goody bags to the first 10 people who signed up for memberships on the day.

Looking to the future

Exciting improvements are on the horizon! One half of our sports hall has recently reopened with a freshly sanded and painted floor. The second half will soon feature a new soft play area and Tag Active facilities.

This Summer, a new state-of-the-art youth hub will open, offering a climbing wall, and music/media studio, a teaching kitchen, meeting rooms, hub space and more. Designed by young people, for young people, the site is a collaboration between Oxford City Council and Oxfordshire County Council, and funded by a £1.1 million grant by the Youth Investment Fund. Additionally, our café will re-open later this year.
